01 — Evolution

The practice began in 2007. The name caught up.

iCandy Webs began in 2007 with a single chapter website and grew, client by client, into a practice trusted with systems that organizations depend on every day.

As the practice expanded into operational software, integrations, automation, and infrastructure, the original name described a fraction of what was actually being delivered.

Ronin Labs is the same practice, the same standards, and the same accountability — under a name that finally matches the scope.

    July 2015 – July 2023 · Healthcare

An eight-year independent digital and marketing partnership — not just website maintenance. Redesigned and developed 4rai.com (the redesign launched August 17, 2015), and led a long-term, patient-focused content and SEO strategy that framed content around patient problems and how diagnostic imaging could help, rather than writing only about modalities. Work included keyword research, local and global SEO, link building, social distribution, and HIPAA-compliant forms used by schedulers. At launch, 4rai.com ranked in Google's top 100 organic results for 19 keywords; in Semrush's current US historical series that footprint peaked at 8,679 in July 2021 and stood at 7,063 at the July 2023 handoff. In August 2016, roughly 69% of visits came from search engines — Google alone accounting for 2,073 of 3,536 visits. Declined a full-time offer and proposed continuing as an independent partner.

Project impact

The moment the product showed up in real life.

During a focused engagement, Bonitto helped translate BOLT ON TECHNOLOGY’s mockups into the front-end experience for a platform used by automotive repair shops to show customers which repairs needed attention first.

Bonitto later encountered the product at his own mechanic. Without knowing he had worked on it, the front-desk representative explained how useful it was. Bonitto shared that moment with Michael Risich, whose response put the scale of the contribution into perspective.

Nearly 3 million people a year are getting that same experience… You should definitely consider the impact you have made.

05 — Independence

Repeatedly invited in-house. Deliberately independent.

Across healthcare, higher education, and technology, permanent roles were offered. Each time, the answer stayed the same.

Remaining independent keeps the practice senior-led, accountable to the outcome rather than an org chart, and free to steward systems across many organizations at once.

06 — Trusted in practice

07 — The Ronin method

See the whole system. Then make it work.

Four principles, applied in order — from understanding the organization to staying accountable long after launch.

  1. 01

    Context before code

Understand the organization, the people, and the constraints before a single decision gets locked into software.

  2. 02

    Build the operating system

Ship the platform, the integrations, and the workflows around it — not an isolated website.

  3. 03

    Make complexity legible

Interfaces, documentation, and reporting that let non-technical teams see and steer the system.

  4. 04

    Stay accountable

Remain present after launch. Monitor, improve, and evolve the system as the organization changes.
